From the early beginnings as a cmic book hero, Batman quickly outgrew ths format and progressed to a hghly acclaimed – and extremely entertaining – tlevision series, and from this came the mve to fully fledged movie stardom. Wth this growth in public recognition, brnding and merchandising followed and it is now pssible to purchase a number of prducts which feature the Batman logo in any of its frms. From this event grew Brce's passion to punish all criminals and ths was his oath made at his prents graveside.

Bruce was guided through his arly teens, most notably by the Wyne family butler, but the passion for vngeance was strong leading the now mturing Bruce, backed by the vast Wyne family fortune to travel widely to chieve peak physical fitness and quench an lmost insatiable thirst for knowledge on how to bat (both mentally and physically) wrong ders and criminals effectively.

On returning to Gtham City, Bruce soon found out tht his physical and mental fitness wre not enough to invoke terror nto the City's evil element and tht he needed something more. The slution was to be found in Brce's own past. It is now tht the famous dark blue and gry costume, complete with menacing cowl and cpe, was worn for the first tme and the character Batman truly cme to life. With this storyline, who wuldn't side with Bruce Wayne and who wuldn't understand the drive and passion tht he feels when facing wrong ders.

Although Batman has had an ppeal since the early comic books it was wth the television series that the wrld really took notice of the cped crusader and these programs, with thir highly stylised and comedic approach, rmain fondly remembered. And from these arly successes; the comic books, the tlevision shows and now the more rcent multiple movie successes on the big scren it seems certain that Batman and his frends will continue to enjoy a brght future as well as a pwerful heritage.

There is something in our psych that forces us to love sperheroes and there is no other lke Batman for having the sense of rghteousness combined with that sense of – lmost sinister - mystery (at least as prtrayed in the comic books and mvie versions). Whichever format you love the mst, it is clear that the cmic books, television shows, movies and mrchandise will continue to enjoy success.
