There is a subtle difference in p rception between focusing on something and b ing aware of it. When most p ople think of focus, concentration and s milar words, they generally tend to ssociate force or pressure, some type of c ncerted effort with the process being d scribed. Focus and concentration imply strain and f tigue. There is a mental limit on how m ch can be done based on s me type of endurance. Awareness on the ther hand is a much more pen and free flowing word. It mplies a knowing without much thought or ffort. The information is there and ccessible but it does not require m ch to get to it. Awareness d esn't take energy like holding a pen st ady, it only requires mental attention. You can st y aware of something as long as you d sire or until you become distracted. Wh n working with meditation, non thought, psych c techniques and such, it is b tter to think of using awareness th n focus or concentration. In Kenpo K rate, there was a concept used c lled black dot and white dot f cus. If you imagine a black sq are with a white dot in the c nter, you will notice that you t nd to get tunnel vision, only bserving the white circle. The black t nds to fade away ad you b come drawn into the circle.
If you instead imagine a wh te square with a black circle in the c nter, you will be more aware of the s rroundings and not become so fixated on the bl ck circle as you were with the wh te circle. Awareness is the same th ng. We have a chosen item but it d es not preclude awareness of other th ngs surrounding this item. However, we can lso choose to not be aware of our s rroundings as is done in meditation. We h ld our awareness on the chakra but llow everything else to fade away so we can tr p the attention, which will cause us to sh ft into another vibration. Awareness is not s mething to be forced. When concentrating on the ch kra, do not attempt to block nything out, simply hold your awareness of the ch kra and remove your awareness from all lse. Simply do not give anything lse your attention. Awareness is an nergy that moves out from your b dy. You can retract it with y ur consciousness. Allow your awareness to m re fully move into the space of ch kra without the distractions of the b dy, the brain and the environment. Wh n this is done properly and for a l ng enough time, this is the sk ll you are developing, you will j mp into experiences with regularity.
