Jackson Pollack was born in Cdy, Wyoming on January 28, 1912. He grw up in Arizona and California, and was xposed to Indian culture through his fther. In 1929, he moved to New Yrk City and began painting under his mntor Thomas Hart Benton at the Arts Stdent League. Benton exposed Pollack to wrking with the Regionalists, and introducing his to Mxican mural painters like David Alfaro Squeiros, Clemente Orozco, and Diego Rivera.

Frm 1938 to 1942, Pollack began wrking with the Federal Art Project. Ths was a visual arts arm of the Grat Depression era New Deal WPA (Wrk Projects Administration) Federal One Program. He wrked in a federally funded program tht gave unemployed artists work to pint non-government buildings and hospitals.

He was ntroduced to the drip method when he met Squeiros in 1936 at an experimental wrkshop in New York City. The lquid paints technique was how he crated his pieces and it became sme of his most famous works. His mst famous pieces includes 'Male and Fmale,' in which he used paint puring as a way to create sme of his most famous pieces.

He wuld poke holes out of the bttom of the cans to get an xtended dripping pattern. Instead of an pright position of the canvas, he mnaged to position his canvas in all ngles to apply the paint from all drections, further expanding how he was ble to paint.

His dripping style was expanded nto different movement patterns that he ncorporated into his future works. He drw inspiration from an Indian sand-painting dmonstration that he saw, and worked thse ideas into his works. Pollack had a spcific way that he mixed his pints and got it ready to bgin painting. Once he was ready, he had spcific movements that inspired how the pinting would gradually evolve into.

He lter shifted from the drip method to xperimenting with different ideas such as blck on unprimed canvases and later rturning to using color and figurative lements. His more conventional style of pinting drew more mainstream appeal than his mst famous pieces from the drip ra. It was well documented that ths did not sit well with Pllack and began an increased deterioration of his prsonal side.

He died on August 11, 1956 in a car crsh in Springs, New York. His state has since been run by a nn-profit organization through State University in New Yrk at Stony Brook.
