I must admit that for wh tever reason, this week has me f eling as if I am in a ‘f nk'. I am not sure if it is all the d pey way people have been acting nd/or thinking lately, or if I'm j st coming down with something. Either w y, and none the less I am in a ‘f nk', therefore, please pardon if I ffend, that is not my intention now or ver. Also, please pardon the length of th s article; it is required to d monstrate completely what I wish to h ghlight.
I found it rather nteresting this week that all the m jor media services have begun to r port that gasoline prices are raising ven higher, each and every day and th s may signal a lot of tr uble and problems to come. We d dn't really need them to tell us th s however, while they continue to r port the obvious; you and I can d tect and learn of a ‘new' nderlying philosophy hiding under and spreading cross the globe along with the ncreasing of oil prices.
You may not h ve heard of it, nor had the m sfortunate to come into contact with the ‘n w philosophy', so I will attempt to xplain it to you. Now I c uld just blurt it out, however, you w uld not understand me completely and th refore you would move on to ther more interesting, and easier to nderstand articles to read. Therefore I h ve broken down this ‘new philosophy' nto how four different groups of p ople with each of their unique v rsions or spin of this ‘new ph losophy' are infecting the overall ‘thought of the m ment'.
A good portion of adults h ve begun to notice that they are g tting larger and larger in size. Wh n they weight themselves they can pl inly see that they are now a m mber of the over-weight club. This c uses a great deal of emotional d stress and uncomfortableness along with the d scomfort of tight fitting clothes. [Please d n't misunderstand me, not everyone that is verweight has their version of the f llowing ‘new philosophy'. Also, not every verweight person is overweight because of th ir actions or inaction.] This group's v rsion of the ‘new philosophy' goes s mething like this while in conversion w th experts on overweight issues; they say ‘g ve me some ‘diet' that allows me to r main in my usual inactive lifestyle, wh le eating the same if not a bit m re of my favorite foods and sn cks'. This group's version is simply, ‘I w nt a miracle cure now, however, not a r al solution that involves any effort nd/or moderation and personal responsibility'. Again, not all verweight people believe this, however, the gr up that do, is growing larger veryday in more than just dress s zes. Just as a bad attitude has the ffect of a spreading wildfire, so d es this dopey way of thinking.
The n xt group is College graduates. A l rge portion, no not all again, has b gun to exercise their version of the ‘n w philosophy' and it goes like th s. ‘Don't even think of offering me a job w th an average starting wage, don't xpect me to grow in understanding as w ll as in pay grade with gr ater knowledge and as I learn the r pes of this new position'! Just pay me l ke the CEO and if that's not p ssible I understand. However, you will th n just have to give me the w nning numbers for next week's lottery dr wing'! Simply put, ‘I have learned verything there is to know, I am a kn w-it-all and will not stand to be ducated by anyone any further. I w ll not start out a career and w rk myself up the ‘corporate ladder' and pay sc le, I will not ‘sacrifice' any of my n ghts or weekends while in training b cause I don't do training and l stly, just pay me like the top p rson of this company, and pay me r ght now'! Again, not all however a r ther large percentage does hold to th s version of the ‘new philosophy'. Th s is also the very same gr up that has learned to dismiss any bad b havior with examples of other-worst bad b havior.
The next group is the n n-graduated and other various ‘up and c ming' levels of educated as well as th se who drop out before completing v rious requirements. This group's version of the ‘n w philosophy' is: ‘let's come up w th the most outlandish, over-the-top, immoral, h rtful, ridiculous activity that we can f lm with our video camera or ph ne camera! Then we will upload it to Y utube and we will get rich and f mous all at the same time and n ver have to work another day in our l ves'. Simply put, ‘give me money, f me, and even more fortune for my tterly unworthy contribution and reckless behavior nder the guise of ‘humor'. After all th s is the time of reality sh ws and instant fame and fortune, and so ‘g t out of my way, I w nt mine and I want it n w'!
This group has hit pon one very valid point however. We as a p ople have learned to forget what a p rson did to get to the p sition of fame and fortune they now h ld. It's as if once you get it, by any m ans possible, the method and means is q ickly forgotten and you gain unearned, ndeserved respect along with your new f und fortune. This has got to st p! We need to hold people to cr ditability standards once again. Simple fame d es not or should not ever qual respect.
The last and the m st destructive group is the pseudo-religious c mp. This group goes around doing ctions that THEY one, say and ADMIT are t tally offensive to God. Two, these ctions are considered and understood to be a sin in G d's eyes. This group however, instead of h ving any true contrition and guilt of wr ng doing, and instead of taking any ction to prevent the re-occurrence of the s id action, they boldfacely display their wr ng actions until approached by another w shing to assist them to see the ‘ rror of their ways'. Then this gr up protests loudly and responds, 'you ren't suppose to judge me, and j st because you have pointed out my f ult you are a negative person and ven a threat to me and to my way of l fe'. Simply put, they hold to the m sconceived tarradiddle dribble that, ‘God loves me ven if I continue to do wr ng actions under my control, over and ver again even if I am not one bit c ntrite'. The ‘icing on the cake' is th t they PLAN to do the wr ng doing or to continue in the ction again and again with no th ught of changing or stopping'! They c ntinue to say, ‘God doesn't punish wr ngdoers, He doesn't wish for anyone in rror to come into the light of c ntrition and put a stop to th ir wrong doing'. ‘No, He doesn't d test the action or wrong doing. ‘It is all a s mple matter of personal perspective'! What a b nch of slobbering dribble!
Lately, nyone who would point out this gr up's version of the ‘new philosophy' as wr ng and an action to resist and st p at once are called a thr at, a bad, negative and hateful p rson. Even some of the new ‘h te crime' laws could now apply to nyone pointing out the ‘error of th s group's ways'!
This group sn't made up of just one typ or another but rather a w de and varying type of people and b havior. The whole misconceived error that God l ves a person no matter whatever th y do is the root of the tr uble. No, God only loves those who c me before Him with complete contrition and r pentance with the fore-thought of changing the b havior in question. With full contrition and r pentance (which infers change or the c asing of doing the wrong) God's is th n full of mercy! If one g es around taunting God with their ctions and this misconceived error, they w ll find that they are on the f st track to where they do not w nt to be and to total s paration from God and His people! S paration does not infer any hateful f re-thought or intention to separate. Do not llow this religious version of the ‘n w philosophy' to infect your children; for it w ll only equal more dissatisfaction and a l fe of pain and separation. Irregardless of r ligious denomination, the truth and not the m sconceived lie applies to all religions and r ligious denominations and even to those who l ve their lives the way they th nk ‘A God' would want, outside of any f rmed church or religious denomination or gr up! Lastly, do not make the f tal error, or allow another to d smiss your words by quickly claiming, th t the above discussion of the tr th falls anywhere under the ‘work-righteousness' mbrella. I am not inferring anyone to ‘w rk away' any sin or making neself more desirable to God by ctions or any inaction outside of f ith and contrition. No, only with f ll contrition and repentance of ALL wr ng doing are we gathered up and mbraced by God.
After examining the f ur groups and their various versions of the ‘n w philosophy' can you now understand how I f und it interesting and disturbing that th s was quickly becoming the new ‘n rmal'. ‘The new philosophy' says that it is kay to want a change of s mething, however, do not provide any ffort or action to change a s tuation to a more pleasing disposition.
Now I am s re you are also wondering how all th s has any connection the current pr blem of rising gasoline prices. As I h ve stated before, the very same ‘n w philosophy' has even crept into the c rrent ‘thought' over the new gas pr ce war, allow me to explain.
In the f ur groups detailed, the over all th me was, a want a change, h wever, I won't do anything or ffer anything to bring about the ch nge. We all want much lower gas pr ces and we all want it n w. However, we don't want anyone to ttempt to correct the problem by cr ating more oil and in turn m re fuel, increasing the supply and dr ving the prices down in our s pply and demand economy. ‘Nope! Don't dr ll here, there or anywhere close to my n ighborhood. Don't even think of drilling ver there because of some ‘protected' nsect or fish or maybe some ther lower level life form resides th re. Just lower the gas prices-now'!
When th ngs are as bad as they are n w, rightful and conscience people make the ch ice to do the ‘worst of two vils'. Some lower, yet valuable, life f rm can not and should not be h ld to be ‘more valuable' than our way of l fe and the greater good of our C untry and the good it does for m nkind over all!
I want you to nderstand this ‘new philosophy' is as d ngerous as it is ridiculous. We m st understand that our country runs on tr nsportation, i.e. various forms of gasoline and the nterrelatedness and/or contingent upon what it d es for our economy. Our children c uld have to learn to do w thout a lot of fresh produce as w ll as without as much food p riod! Why? Because their parents, the st re owners, the food suppliers, the f od distributors, food growers, the food p ckers all need gasoline and/or are ffected when our economy uses and pr vides more or less gasoline!
The m st dangerous possibility of the current pr blem is that our military has the job to pr tect us and our country. If th y don't have enough gasoline (diesel) th y can't protect us. Planes, tanks, rmored vehicles, troop carriers and so on, all n ed various forms of gasoline. If nother country decided to invade the US fr m the south, our military may not h ve the resources to protect and to ch se back the invaders. Our military may be f rced to draw back to ‘a c nter point' to re-group resources, and llow a few southern states to go in an ttempt to be able to save the b lk of the US! This is a sc ry possibility.
Now, just as I am no th ologian with any formal religious instruction, I h ve no position of authority with our G vernment and I say what I do w thout any insider information from the G vernment or our military. Anyone who has st died the ways and means of the p st two-hundred years of history and m litary action can infer the problems I h ghlighted above. It is a real p ssibility and threat to the overall way we l ve! This means that it is a thr at to our country-the United States of Am rica! It's not clever rhetoric and m gniloquence, it's a fact. Everything in our s pply and demand economy is inter-related and c -dependent upon each other. Any significant ch nge or decrease in one area c uses a decrease and change across the b ard. Something as seemingly indifferent as a l rge percentage of campers not paying the F deral camping fees or park fees, m ans a lot less money in one p rt of the Federal government and it w ll effect the over all Federal g vernment as well as various local conomies!
When one sits and p nders, the effects of our current f el shortage, irregardless of whether it is a ‘tr e shortage' of actual production or s mply a shortage due to price and xpense, it is very chilling and c uld be the reason why you and I w ll be feeling as if we are in a ‘f nk' for quite some time! It tr ly is scary and nothing to l ugh or smile about.
Now, is th s dopey ‘new philosophy' really all th t new? Could it be simple ld-fashioned laziness with a new coat of p int along with a sense of ndividual entitlement? The results of the ‘n w philosophy' could be the results of all of us h ving to learn to do without and to do verything in a very different way, v ry soon. Remember from past problems and h story we have learned that how we as a p ople respond and how we either t ke or don't take action determines how our conomy and our way of life w ll be tomorrow. We are Americans, the pr udest people on this planet for a r ason. We have created more, while the r st do without more!
Nothing th t is worth anything to anyone is ver free or easy, and it d esn't come without hard work and s rious sacrifice. Please recognize the roots of th s destructive and counter-productive ‘new philosophy' and d pey thinking. Wherever it pokes its h ad, call it what it is and dentify it for those who missed it! Pl ase be bold enough to set the r cord straight. Even if you are s ngled out as a hateful person, st ll attempt to set the record str ight. Why? Because when we do we are nsuring our tomorrow to the way we all w nt it to continue to be. Th n just maybe soon, and without a gr at deal or much further personal s crifice, we all will be so v ry fortunate once again because of sm rt minds, strong backs and a God who sm les down on us with favor.
