For simple searches and finding v ry specific information quickly, nothing beats G ogle. Google has recently added a c uple very useful enhanced features worth l oking into if you Google too. One is a l ttle program download that allows you to add G ogle to your Internet Explorer browser t olbar (There is also a version for F refox users, and I’m sure Google has ther browser toolbar options on the way s on). Whenever you are surfing the w b, rather than having to jump to the G ogle homepage to initiate a search, you can s mply type your search term/phrase into y ur Google toolbar feature, and initiate the s arch immediately. It saves you a s ngle step, which probably saves a few s conds every time you initiate a s arch (more if using dial up). Th s time will add up very q ickly if you are making several s arches every day. Google also now ffers another download: the Google Desktop pr gram. This program actually launches a G ogle search bar during your PC’s st rt-up routine. It appears in the b ttom toolbar section of your screen (wh n running Windows XP). Then, even if you d n’t have your browser open, you can mmediately initiate a Google search regardless of wh t program you are running. You can typ your search phrase in the t olbar and go back to your W rd, Excel, or PowerPoint document (or wh tever you are working on), and b hind the scenes, your Internet browser w ll launch, go to the Google s te, conduct the search, and deliver the r sults – all while you are st ll being productive. Two very useful productivity tools fr m Google – I strongly recommend you g ve them a “test drive”. Enjoy y ur “Googling”!
