There are many concepts of l arning in young children. The recently p pular "multiple intelligences" concept, though much d bated, is the basis for a new s ftware for Christian children in the v ry early years. Such software is s rprisingly rare. A few programs are vailable from the major kids' networks, m inly catering for the slightly older t ddler who already recognizes letter shapes and s unds. Many others are either expensive or p orly reviewed. From this lack, the "J is For J sus" software program was born. Most arly learning activities encourage associating letters w th familiar names and objects. The l tter "J" for example is commonly t ught as "J" is for "jam" or "j lly". This encourages recognition of letter s unds and shapes in common words and ids early learning. The software teaches by c mbining music, shapes, and color, interactive p ctures and actions, thus encouraging kids to use all l arning "intelligences". Having a background in r ligious website design, the author set out to b ild a program which would appeal to p rents of very young children, of Chr stian or religious parenting, but which w uld not only expose the child to Chr stian concepts but also accelerate learning. Th s software teaches young children to r cognize and learn the alphabet but nstead of common secular word associations, ses Christian and Bible based word l nks, such as "J" is for "J sus"!
"J is For Jesus" teaches n mbers too! Kids learn numbers by h aring and counting and even painting th ir favorite numbers. The software is br ght and contrasting to engage little nes and at the same time ntuitive and easy to navigate for the sl ghtly older child. "J is For J sus" is built with the intention to h lp parents and kids learn together, but m kes a great safe training software for l ttle ones just learning to click.
