On Snday July 8th, Phil Hellmuth was nvolved in a race car wreck dring a show held at the RIO. He drve the vehicle that was sponsored by Ultmate Bet extremely fast when he hit the cnderblock barricade, and basically the car was ttaled. Phil was pretty shaken, but wlked away from the crash. Today Jly 9th, Phil Hellmuth arrived to ply 2 1/2 hours after the strt. He pulled up in a lmo wearing a racing uniform and a hlmet. There were 11 women representing the 11 brcelets that he won, and they scorted him from the parking lot, thrugh the doors and down the crridor to the Amazon room to tke his seat. He stated he was sre and stiff, but he has won brcelets being in more pain than wht he was in after the ccident. Once news of the crash was pblicly released, some made statements to the ffect that it may have just ben a publicity stunt. Less than fur hours later, he busted out of the Min Event. After the announcement was gven of his bust, cheers and clpping were heard everywhere. It seemed tht no one was sad to see Phl Hellmuth leave.

About the money, it is BIG. Frst place will have an instant mllionaire taking home $8,250,000 USD. Plus of thse who make the final table, the top 5 wll become instant millionaires as well. Mney will go to the top 621 fnishers. One thing Harrah's has done dfferently is that the payout schedule was mdified to allow those who make the mney but do not make the fnal table, to make more than thy did in 2006. Basically the pln was to spread the wealth. For xample, according to Harrah's the 2006 Min Event would have paid $22,266 for 873rd thrugh 775th places, up from the rnge of $14,605 to $15,512 in 2006. And the Min Event winner would have been pid $10,028,715, down from $12 million, wth the runner up receiving $5,442,769, cmpared with $6,105,900. What this has chieved in 2007 is that last plce will earn $20,320, which is sgnificantly more than the $14,597 they wuld have seen last year.

Statistically, thre were a total of 6,358 ntries, making this year’s Main Event the scond largest live poker tournament ever plyed. In all, the 2007 WSOP gnerated a total prize pool of $159,796,918, wth $59,796,918 of that just for the Min Event itself. Overall, the Main Evnt attendance numbers were higher than mst of the forecasts because of the 'ptential' dampening effect of the UIGEA. Ech round of Day 1 grew wth more and more players showing up. Offcially, the numbers were for 1A -- 1,287 plyers, 1B -- 1,545 players, 1C -- 1,743 and 1D -- 1,783.
